It’s no secret that we here at Sci Chic are fans of science inspired art. Our love for it extends far beyond our own jewelry, however. We love science art of all shapes and sizes. Even (or maybe we should say especially) science art that comes in the form of delicious baked goods!
When we came across these marvelous science art masterpieces, there wasn’t any question whether or not we were going to write a blog post on them.
If you’re not hungry, you will be after this post. Hungry for science, that is! And cake too, probably.
It was just a usual day on our Twitter feed earlier this week until we stumbled across a tweet from Keren Sharon (@kerensharon1). But this wasn’t just any tweet, it was a science art tweet. And even better, it was a deliciously edible science art tweet!

The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), set to replace the beloved Hubble Space Telescope, will launch later this year. As such, it’s been the focus of much science art, including our own JWST Earrings and Necklace. But the twist Keren put on it took things to another level entirely. We absolutely love salivating over this cake! It’s science art at its finest. It’s so good, in fact, we might even feel a little bad cutting into it. We’re sure the taste would soon make up for that though!
After seeing this awesome JWST cake we knew we couldn’t stop there. So we didn’t.
The next science art cake we found was inspired by something a bit more recognizable than the JWST. That being said, we’re not convinced it’ll be any less delicious.
Enjoy this video from Youtuber Rossana Pansino of Nerdy Nummies on how you can make your very own edible science art beaker cake!
Normally we spend our time here at Sci Chic headquarters running the 3D printers, but after that last video, a science art cooking day might just be in order. Or, maybe we just need to go ahead and pull the trigger on that PancakeBot we’ve wanted for a while now…
Anyway, if the last two cakes weren’t enough to whet your appetite, you’re in luck! We’ve got one more awesome creation for you!
You know what’s cool? Geodes. You know what’s cooler than that? Geode cake. Also, we’re willing to bet it probably tastes better than actual geodes. But why take our word for it? The video below will show you exactly how to make your own so you can taste it and find out!
Like we said earlier, we’re fans of science art in all its forms -- especially the delicious dessert forms! We really can’t think of many things better than sharing the love of science while chowing down on cake.
If you see any awesome science art this week, be sure to let us know! Tweet it to us with @SciChicNews and we can all enjoy it together!
