Science Outfit of the Day: It's in your genes

Be it casual Friday or a lazy day on the weekend, some days you just need to be comfortable. But that doesn’t mean you can’t be stylish, too! For those days when you want to rock a tad more casual fashion, but still show your love for science, we’re proud to present our Science Outfit of the Day: It’s in your genes. Kicking off things with a simple but stylish top we have a classical round neck plain blouse. While this blouse forgoes a cluttered pattern for a cleaner, sleeker look, it’s not devoid of fashion, and that’s exactly why we love it! The loose fit (but still slim figure) of this piece makes it comfortable and easy to...

See What's Inside Our June Subscription Box

Let's talk about our most recent subscription box, the June build it box!  Our theme for June is "Build it," which celebrates the tools of science! This month is all about the tools we use to build and create! The first item in this box is our additional information pages. In her interview, we learned about the maker movement,...

Since then, I’ve had a fascination with the deep sea, part of the reason why I jumped at the chance to study deep sea chimaeras in New...

"I love your pretty dress! Look at all those scary dinosaurs!"

How often have you ever heard those sentences uttered back-to-back?  Thanks to Princess Awesome, the answer is frequently. We are a new girls’ clothing company founded by two moms from Washington, DC, Princess Awesome fills the “dinosaur dress” gap. We make twirly dresses with rockets, fire engines, math, science, and of course, dinosaurs. Girls sporting Princess Awesome dresses can finally twirl and roar at the same time.  Even better, the adults around those girls are changing their conversations. “When my daughter wears her molecular orbital dress or rocket dress, adults communicate with her differently,” says Laura B., a Princess Awesome customer. “Instead of calling her a princess or cute, the conversation expands to rockets and then my daughter talks about...

Meet the Team: Shaina

If you’ve followed Sci Chic on social media or in the news, you probably know our founder and CEO, Erin Winick. She’s pretty awesome (though, admittedly, we’re a tad biased). But Sci Chic is bigger than just one person. In fact, we have a growing team of spectacular people working behind the scenes and we’d like you to meet them! Last time in this series you met Jordan, the creative mind behind the 3D printers and 3D modeling here at Sci Chic. Today, we’d like to introduce you to another extremely valuable member of our team! Shaina is heading up our sales development and public relations. This week we sat down with her to talk about her work, her passions...
